The "Sofia" family tavern is run by the Petrakis family. Giorgos, the father, takes care of the orders and the service with his 2 sons "Eftichis and Manolis". This is the only tavern in Mochlos where you are invited to enter the kitchen to discover the daily specials (traditional Cretan cuisine) concocted by Sofia. The tavern "Kavouria" (crabs) is very picturesque and typical. The boss "Spiros" speaks of course Greek, some English, some German, some French and all that, really, really fast !  Spiros offers fresh fish and seafood, but also Cretan specialties. We recommend the "grilled barbounia (red mullet)".  Do not order your meal at the same time as the aperitif, because you will not have finished the aperitif that you will already be ... served :-).

The Kochilia tavern has existed since 1910. It is run by Giorgos and Despina who present their double tavern: Our family settled here in about 1910. Over the last years we have refurbished and modernised our tavern, creating a more comfortable space and maintaining the traditional local character. In winter-time you can sit in a cosy interior with open fire-place and traditional furniture. In summer our big terrace invites everybody to sit at the former port, overlooking the small beach. From here you also have a beautiful view to the far-away mountain villages, to the cliff of Kastella and its magnificent sun-rise, as well as to the island of St. Nicolas with its Minoan remains. At the back we have created a separate area where you can drink coffee and enjoy good ice cream. In the evening, you can admire the sunset while having a drink in good company by the sea. This space is run by Ermioni. In the kitchen for the preparation of our dishes, we use all the local products as well as our olive oil and the fresh fish of the fishermen of Mochlos.

Tavern To Bogazi exists since 1999 and is situated in the heart of Mochlos village, right at the seafront.  Manolis the owner grew up in Mochlos. His wife Gaby is from Switzerland and speaks Greek, English, French, German and Italian.  The menu offers a choice of 30 appetisers and different salads. All vegetables and salads are chosen carefully and bought on the local markets.  You can also indulge yourself with Greek specialities cooked with our own olive oil, fresh local fish and meat, grilled or cooked the Cretan way.  During the summer season, come and enjoy local live music on Thursday and Sunday evenings.  We would be pleased to serve you on our terrace.

At the entrance to the pretty village, "Remezzo - La Marinière" is a small Hotel Bar Restaurant with an exceptional view of the mountains, the sea, and a small beach below.

As far as the kitchen is concerned, Pierre makes maximum use of local products, both meat and fish.

No, it's not a Greek tavern, the Mediterranean dishes are revisited according to Pierre's mood: local, taste, seasoning, are the key words of his cuisine. 

The plus: Laurent's welcome, generosity, smile and good humor make this establishment a must in the village. From breakfast to digestive, Pierre et Lolo and their "French Touch" are worth the detour.

The Karpouzi pizzeria is open every day. Giorgos et Maria, the owners, also offer other dishes and mezzes.

In season, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, you can taste its excellent homemade "Gyros".
